We just announced a major milestone with our new platform, Cisco SecureX. At the heart of our approach to Cisco SecureX is a simple idea: security solutions should be designed to act as a team. They should learn from each other. They should listen and respond as a coordinated unit. When that happens, security becomes more systematic and effective. Our customers have trusted us for years as both the world’s largest provider of IT infrastructure and networking services and the world’s largest B2B cybersecurity business. Now more than ever they want us to help them achieve something essential for modern organizations: they want to feel more secure.

In a dynamic cybersecurity industry that is populated by hundreds of different point product vendors we understand that customers want to cut through the complexity and noise and feel confident in their security; focusing on outcomes rather than vendor integration. Cisco Secure is a fresh approach in our industry, an industry that is well known for jargon. While others may push terms like “advanced” this or “artificial intelligence” that, we’re focusing on what matters most to our customers. We have the breadth and depth of knowledge and experience to solve platform-level challenges that span the datacenter, network, cloud, internet, email, endpoints, and everywhere in between. The launch today of the Cisco SecureX platform shows you how this approach will scale to cover our whole portfolio. We are creating a new security paradigm. The name Cisco SecureX, is something we worked on with as much rigor, research and debate as the amazing engineers actually building the platform. Maybe fewer Jira tickets, but otherwise comparable efforts.

Extensible security

For us, the experience of our platform is tightly linked to its name. Let’s look at the name for a moment. We start at the end with “X,” which stands for, well, everything our customers want to secure, all the point products they want to integrate and the experience of feeling more secure everywhere. It’s the variable, defined by our customers as their needs grow and evolve.

• This stands for a cross (X) architectural approach, which is at the heart of our platform; SecureX is the broadest and most integrated in the industry. It helps not only Sec Ops but also Net Ops and IT Ops.
• X is for extensible; it’s going to get more integrations, broader capabilities and greater effectiveness with each engineering sprint. Two products don’t make a platform and the X frees us to add everything from network, endpoint and cloud.
• And, sure, we’re making a nod to one of the industry categories often associated with the platform, XDR.
• Unlike in fiction, where usually X marks the spot, here, X marks the start of our Cisco Secure This is exactly how we want customers to feel, and provides a common, shared experience for all the different security outcomes we provide. We have millions of customers all over the world who turn to Cisco for increasingly more of their security needs; whether it’s on the network, at the endpoint or in the cloud; whether it’s the hundreds of millions of VPN users we have, the measurable percentage of the internet protected by our DNS security service or the most loved MFA product on the market. And we’re not stopping there. The foundational portfolio name of Cisco Secure helps us simplify a whole lot more. We are extending it to our portfolio offers such as Cisco Secure Remote Worker, which combines verification, access and detection security to ensure workers can operate from any location.  Cisco Secure is simple, authentic and the start of a new way to think about security. Solution and then product names that are aligned to customer outcomes, a vision and mission to deliver effective security to enable all of us to achieve our full potential, security that simplifies your experience, accelerates your success and protects what’s now and what’s next.
